‘The beachy guitar licks juxtaposed with Bayly's richly emotive vocals paint a scene of a slower, laid-back life enriched with joy and affection. A California gem hidden in the heart of London.’ - Earmilk

“Gorgeous ethereal balladry” - It’s All Indie

“Beautiful”- BBC Introducing

Following the release of his latest single ‘I’ll Never Leave You’ which saw support from notable US site EARMILK, and DIY Magazine, for whom Bayly played a sold out single launch show at London’s Two Tribes Brewery, Alex Bayly returns with his new single ‘Lonely Michael’.

From his forthcoming debut album Ley Lines, ‘Lonely Michael’ is an upbeat British indie guitar affair. The opening harmonised loop gives way to an upbeat jangly groove, which intentionally contrasts the lyrics subject matter which address millennial anxiety and loneliness. The lyrics also reference 90s britpop songs such as the Manic Street Preachers ‘Motorcycle Emptiness’, which had an important influence on Bayly.

“Imitation body snatchers taking hold, of lonely michael, lonely michael’s in his head, it’s alright to be in your head”

This song gives an insight into the mind of Bayly at its most tumultuous with the track building to the ‘heaviest’ part of his forthcoming album with a distorted layered guitar riff coming in at three minutes, which would not be out of place from a Fugazi cut.

The last 12 months have seen Bayly go from strength to strength; following the viral success of his self-released song ‘New America’ (100K+ streams) Bayly has seen support from the likes of Clash, DIY Magazine, EARMILK, BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio, Soho Radio and Spotify. In addition to his sold out single launch show for ‘I’ll Never Leave You’, he’s played a headline show at Rye Wax, several shows at the iconic Ronnie Scotts, two Sofar Sounds sessions and a slot supporting The Last Dinosaur and Jack In The Water at Servant Jazz Quarters in Dalston.

2019 will mark the release of Alex Bayly’s full length debut album Ley Lines. The album kickstarter is now live and is on track to hit its target soon. The release will be capped off with an album launch show at the Sebright Arms in London on the 30th of October, followed by a UK Tour and the Vinyl release will follow. "[‘New America’] It’s this duality that perhaps works best for Alex Bayly and goes a long way in creating a unique voice in a scene dominated by big American names. Indeed I can’t once remember any track as quintessentially English as St. Valentine to also contain slide guitar." -Tapes Tell Tales
