An Interview with 'Chork'
Who are the band members and what do they play?
Charlie Gibson - Guitar / Vocals / Songwriter Ben Bevan - Drums
How and where did you get together?
We met at a jam in a backyard studio in Belper Derbyshire
What are the band's main influences?
Pinegrove, The Libertines, The Smiths, Arctic Monkeys, Flyte, Mac Demarco, Stone Roses, The Strokes, Tame Impala, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, War On Drugs.
Have you played any notable gigs, festivals or other events? Likewise radio or TV appearances?
We've had Multiple performances at the Tunbridge Wells Forum, a sell out headline show @ Trinity Theatre Tunbridge Wells, Performed @ Livestock Festival, Performed @ Unfest Festival
Are there any other interesting or amusing happenings – no matter how small – that the band have been involved with that would be of interest to those who like your music?
Ben needs new vans and Charlie has too many vans
Where was the single/EP/album recorded and who was involved in its production?
The single 'Old New Love' was written and produced in Charlie's home studio (We call it the shedio) in his garden in Belper, Derbyshire. Charlie recorded and self-produced the whole track and Ben plays the drums for it when we play live. The recording process works quite well as its just Charlie getting on with it and doing his thing.
Is there a particular ethos behind the single/EP/album or any particular music styles or events that inspired it?
The track was written off the back of a very painful and heartbreaking break up and it's a real expression of how difficult but consoling it is to still be in love with no contact. The guitar parts have been heavily influenced by the early 00's Indie-Rock scene with obvious influences from The Libertines and the Strokes in there.
