An Interview with 'Hook'
Who are the band members and what do they play?
Eoin O'Donnell - vox, guitars, Danny Spelman - bass, vox, Morgan O'Brien - drums
How and where did you get together?
Winter 2018. Friends of bands and friends in bands
What are the band's main influences?
Lou Reed, the Cure, the Strokes, Talking Heads - new wave indie sounds. Told we sound like Elvis Costello. Don't know why.
Have you played any notable gigs, festivals or other events? Likewise radio or TV appearances?
Lots of airplay for our previous singles "The Light" and "I love the world because you're in it"
Are there any other interesting or amusing happenings – no matter how small – that the band have been involved with that would be of interest to those who like your music?
We're writing songs by whatsapp now. the new normal.
Do you have any favourable quotes from previous reviews of the band that you'd be happy to share?
The Light. The catchy bass line just instantly reels listeners in alongside the punchy drums. It’s the type of track that would be perfect for a Hollywood movie… once you’ve heard it for the first time, it’s inevitable that you’ll need to go back for more - the Music Files
Where was the single/EP/album recorded and who was involved in its production?
I Like You was recorded in a crumbling old Victorian house in Dublin City. Recorded by friend of the band Colin Reid and produced by Eoin and Colin over long hours of tea, beer, tears and vapes.
Is there a particular ethos behind the single/EP/album or any particular music styles or events that inspired it?
Keep it simple, pure, as honest as possible
Can you briefly describe what the song/each song is about? If you are releasing an album then either describe the thinking behind the project or choose a couple of lead tracks to focus on.
I Like You is a love song where more importance is put on liking someone than loving them. Sometimes its better "to like" than to "to love". Love can be fickle. Like isn't
Please provide a one or two-line personal quote that can be attributed to a band member, about either the band themselves or the release. Obviously the more eye-catching this is the better.
We'll be still recording songs in an old folks home
