An Interview with 'Philip Yman'

Who are the band members and what do they play?

Philip Yman - Vocalist and songwriter from Sweden. Dacaset - Producer from Germany.

How and where did you get together?

We got eachothers attention like I think most people do these days, through Instagram. We both liked the prior work that had be done, and the chemistry turned out to work all good.

What are the band's main influences?

I'd say it's alot of my own style put into it. But my general influences must be Lil Peep, Mac Miller, Juice etc

Have you played any notable gigs, festivals or other events? Likewise radio or TV appearances?

They've played some of my tracks at the local radio station. Here in Sweden tho, radio stations seem to put on a filter about what they play, and my lyrics aren't the most cleanest haha

Are there any other interesting or amusing happenings – no matter how small – that the band have been involved with that would be of interest to those who like your music?

Most amusing happenings right now is that I work with several producers, both from Germany and Sweden. There's alot of music that is going to be released this summer alone, continuing with steady releases. With "PARTY" it will be 6 tracks released so far this year, and more is coming.

Where was the single/EP/album recorded and who was involved in its production?

It was recorded in Sweden, in my own livingroom. Sent out to Decaset in Germany to mix and master it. It's so easy these days when everything is digital and the internet being so easy to work with other people.

Is there a particular ethos behind the single/EP/album or any particular music styles or events that inspired it?

The tracks I've released so far is alot about heartbreaking and struggling in life. I invited over a friend and said I wanted to do something more positive and energetic, and BOOM, "PARTY" was made.

Can you briefly describe what the song/each song is about? If you are releasing an album then either describe the thinking behind the project or choose a couple of lead tracks to focus on.

The song is mainly to not give a fuck anymoore about what people think about you, and to just have fun and do what you enjoy. Even tho the song is called "PARTY", I think there are more ways to connect to the song rather than just going out drinking etc, to feel the energy and vibe.

Please provide a one or two-line personal quote that can be attributed to a band member, about either the band themselves or the release. Obviously the more eye-catching this is the better.

"Fuck everything that stands in your way, there will always be people that doesn't want you good, be blind to these and embrace the ones that actually want to see you succeed" - Philip Yman
