Wednesday 5th February - The Jazz of Dudley Moore

"A vibrant and moving homage" — Downbeat Mag

Dudley Moore was one of the UK’s greatest jazz pianists and composer, from his early university days discovered by Johnny Dankworth. Yet his much-awarded stage, TV and Cinema appearances served to disguise this original remarkable musical talent. Chris presents a long-overdue reclamation of the beloved comic actor as an individual and undervalued British musician, featuring Dudley's witty and poignant 1960s jazz and soundtrack music.

Wed 12th February — HOAGY!

"Captures the spirit of a 20th-century giant...a delightful package" The Observer

A joyful, edifying and heartfelt salute to the wry, down-home brilliance of songwriter Hoagy Carmichael, tracing his journey from Indiana, via New York and to films in Hollywood. The evening includes well-loved hits, including “Rockin’ Chair”, “Lazybones”, “My Resistance Is Low”, “Skylark”, “Stardust”, “The Nearness Of You” and arguably his longest standing gem “Georgia On My Mind”,  alongside obscure nuggets and delightful curiosities from his rich and varied songbook.

Wed 4th March —A Richard Rodgers Collection

"Crooks’ tenor raises the hairs on the back of the neck” — London Jazz News

With Lorenz Hart, he produced dozens of clever, witty songs of the ‘30s and ‘40s. With Oscar Hammerstein, he reinvented the Broadway musical with Oklahoma!, South Pacific, The King and I among other masterpieces of romantic musical theatre.

Clarinet and saxophone star of the John Wilson Orchestra Mark Crooks and pianist Chris Ingham dip into these contrasting songbooks for elegant, jazzy ruminations on Rodgers’ musical genius, including “Bewitched, Bothered & Bewildered”, “Have You Met Miss Jones”, “I Didn’t Know What Time It Was”, “If I Loved You”, “My Favourite Things”, “My Funny Valentine”, “The Lady Is A Tramp”, and so many more.
