Em George announces the release of her follow up EP Wolves
Em George announces the release of her follow up EP Wolves. Leading single Fight a timely reminder of our ability to withstand challenges.
Em George is a singer-songwriter based in Sydney. Her introspective and lyrical songwriting style is interweaved with folk and pop-based melodies drawing on influences such as Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell and Nick Drake. Her music has been featured on Spotify, Triple J Unearthed and reached number five on the AMRAP Charts. In 2017, she was a finalist in the International Songwriters Competition. The lead single Fight with its summery, light melody coaxes you to listen, before packing a punch with the honest, heartfelt lyrics. The song explores human relationships and the subtle search for the light amongst the moments of darkness that sometimes pervades our existence.
‘I wrote this song [Fight] in a time of darkness and loss after losing my grandmother who was a huge part of my life. She always used to talk to me about facing dark, hard times and never giving up. That sometimes not everyone would love or accept all of you, but that was ok as long as you accepted your entire self.’ - Em George
After her acclaimed debut EP was streamed over 350,000 times on Spotify, Em is now set to release her upcoming second EP Wolves. The EP was recorded on the Sunshine Coast at Heliport Studios with producer Eliot Henrich and co-produced by Matt O'Connor (Harts, The Beautiful Girls, Thirsty Merc), and mastered by Adam Dempsey (Angie McMahon, Courtney Barnett). This new EP displays new scope, a direct clarity and confidence in who she is as an artist with her signature introspective, seventies folk infused style. Her second EP, featuring five original songs with the lead single Fight set to be released on July 17th.
