Graffiti Vibe Introduces 'Jaie Rose'

Who are the band members and what do they play?

Jaie Rose

How and where did you get together?

I have been singing for 2 years, after wanting to take music more seriously. When I was 15, I joined forces with HP Music, an Artist Development Facility in the South, that helps aspiring artists reach their full potential. When I first started wanting to pursue my original career, I struggled with confidence and being able to capture my sound, so it has been an incredible journey.

What are the band's main influences?

Jorja Smith, Sabrina Carpenter

Have you played any notable gigs, festivals or other events? Likewise radio or TV appearances?

My first single was aired on BBC Introducing, and that was such a proud moment for me! I have been on a few local radio stations and festivals, but I am still building up an original set and my EP, which I hope to release towards the end of 2020.

Are there any other interesting or amusing happenings – no matter how small – that the band have been involved with that would be of interest to those who like your music?

It took me 6 months to be able to pluck up the courage to sing in front of my producer and record in the studio, like for me, it was such an overwhelming and scary experience, pushing out my voice and what I had been writing and thinking in my head. Now it's one of my favourite places to be. I think it's taught me to be more confident and also that when you put your mind to something, if you want it enough - you can definitely do it. I was always branded as an awkward/weird person and it's great to be able to break out of that shell and be a confident, awkward and weird person.

Where was the single/EP/album recorded and who was involved in its production?

All of my music is created at HP Music, I work closely with an incredible team, and we go through every process together, from co-writing, to music production, to artwork, the video etc. It's incredible and you feel so loved and supported.

Is there a particular ethos behind the single/EP/album or any particular music styles or events that inspired it?

I kind of pride myself on being just a regular teenage girl, and being a bit of an all-round awkward person. Basically Lewis Capaldi with hair. As I'm only 17, I am writing from the experiences I have had so far, so naturally, it is all about heartbreaks, sadness, getting over people, being independent etc. It's a diary, that I can listen to and remember!

Can you briefly describe what the song/each song is about? If you are releasing an album them either describe the thinking behind the project or choose a couple of lead tracks to focus on?

uhh boys probably the boyfriends i’ve had in the passed and mixed messages i’ve been sent from them that’s really 'effed' with my head, and just stating how i feel clearly so i don’t regret anything. It's kind of a personal diary, that I can vent and share with others that have been in the same situation.

Please provide a one or two-line personal quote that can be attributed to a band member, about either the band themselves or the release. Obviously the more eye-catching this is the better.

I'm the awkward one that sings.
