"Ida’s emotionally moving voice, which is out of this world, contrasts so innocently against what unfolds on screen, a Lynchian Nordic Noir road trip. Genius …" Folk Radio
Another Kind of Love is the brand new single by Danish Music Award nominee Ida Wenøe (pronounced EE-da ven-O), out 1st March 2019 via Integrity Records, and the first single from her second album The Things We Don’t Know Yet that follows on 12th April (CD, vinyl, download).
The track has already featured on Gideon Coe’s 6 Music show as well as Janice Long’s BBC Wales show, plus support from BBC Ulster too.
Ida returns to these shores in April for her third UK tour, including a date at Camden’s Green Note in London on April 24th.
With support for Ida’s previous output from BBC 6 Music’s Tom Ravenscroft, Marc Riley & Gideon Coe, and praise from the likes of Clash Magazine, Wonderland and The Guardian, her songs clearly resonate in experienced ears, blending her Nordic Noir heritage with hints of Americana and English folk. To list artists she sounds like would be to miss the point entirely - as anyone who has witnessed a live show can attest, Ida Wenøe is very definitely Ida Wenøe.
Drawing sonic inspiration from the vibe created by David Lynch in the Twin Peaks Roadhouse when James conveys such a deep melancholy with his simply arranged performance of ‘Only You’, Ida’s lyrics for Another Kind of Love don’t shy from matters personal:
"The song explores the realization that love isn't something you need from someone or something, but is there within if you know how to find it. I don't have the answer and I can't read a book that will tell me, but I know that a life has to be lived, as love has a thousand faces."
“Ida Wenøe is equal parts mysterious, brooding & beguiling” - R2 Magazine
“Her voice - weary but cute, with the power to cut through - is perfect” – The Guardian
“Wenøe’s signature style pairs ethereal vocals with delicately finger-picked guitar” – Line of Best Fit
“In keeping with her Nordic DNA there’s a glacial air to both the music and the imagery” – Folk Radio
