'’The storming synth-pop artist has a unique voice, matching her lyrical prowess to a

brooding digital template’ CLASH

'Ms Gehlhar’s voice is seductive and commanding and her vocal dexterity reigns with ease over the quasi-industrial, electro sound of dark percussion, pulsating drums and striking synths.' Little Indie Blog

'Imagine being able to distill that particular emotion that only David Lynch is able to

invoke (a sweet mixture of something blue, ominous, yet irreverent and utterly

mesmeric) and now give it a bit of that syrupy, neon vibe with a dash of your

favourite moments from the Drive soundtrack – if you’re able to do that, you might be ready for JYLDA.' FAME Magazine

JYLDA is Italian-German Gianna Gehlhar's musical alter ego. Now based in London after a stint in Berlin, she releases hotly awaited second single Reeled ahead of her upcoming TWITCH EP, out Friday 19th April, produced with Beni Giles (Otzeki, James, Marcus Foster). She will be celebrating the release of her debut EP with a secret location warehouse party in East London on Thursday 18th April, and another in Berlin on Friday 3rd May.

JYLDA's voice finds a playful connection with sensuality and rhythm comparable

with Robyn, Jessy Lanza or Little Dragon. It all revolves around the pop song, but with a darkness reminiscent of St. Vincent, Grimes and Lykke Li. JYLDA's operatic roots give

her voice a unique captivating siren-like intensity, drawing you into her enchanting world. Within this world, Reeled is on the surface a warm and sunkissed dance single, tinged with the melancholy of brooding over moments lost in time and chasing endlessly for more.

JYLDA states: "Reeled was written while I was traveling around California. I returned to San Francisco after some years and realized that nothing was the same. The song is about that — going back to a place and unconsciously assuming that life will be put on hold there the way we left it. LA influenced the song further in another way: you can hear the sun ooze through the track but being there also made me think a lot about the glorification and volatility of fame.“

Reeled is the second release from JYLDA since moving to London last year. During that time she's been writing and collaborating with a series of exciting artists including Blakey, Ah!Kosmos, Hugh, Salt Ashes, Pillars and Kirk Spencer, the results of which will be seen in future releases in 2019 following her debut EP coming out.
