Northern Echo calls Sam Dickinson’s newest album ‘stunning’ as it heads for release Friday 9 October

Off Script’s 14 tracks are a smooth blend of disco, pop, dance and soul, with all original music co-written by Sam. Newcastle born pop singer songwriter spoke out about his new album, “I wanted to create an album which paid homage to the sound of my childhood, the blend of 90’s soul, pop and dance that I would listen to in my Mum’s car on the way to school. I wanted to write about self-empowerment, self-belief and if 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that we could all do with a little bit more of that.”

Sam puts his unique style on two classic tracks, the first being on 90’s iconic Missing originally by Everything But The Girl and the other, the funky guitar driven Carefree originally sang by Mica Paris.

With the album predominately featuring full production, beautifully demonstrated on the released singles ‘Off Script’ and ‘Cry Wolf’, the album ends soulfully with an acoustic ballad ‘No One In The Room’ where Sam talks about the death of his grandmother and not being open about his sexuality to her.

BBC Radio 2 has championed Sam’s previous releases with airplay from Alan Carr, Paul O’Grady and Graham Norton who said, “he just keeps on getting better and better”. Spotify have also been ensuring Sam’s streams are reaching the one million mark with inclusion on editorial playlists across the globe. Off Scripts journey of self-discovery is sure to continue that trend.

The album will be launched at a socially distant event at Hoochie Coochie, Newcastle, Friday 16 October, with Sam’s full band and support acts. Tickets on sale via SeeTickets.

Off Script was released 9 October and is available from iTunes, Apple Music & Spotify. You can pre-order the album now on iTunes or from his official website.
