The electronic trip-pop trio have been crafting their dreamscape sounds since 2016, garnering attention both locally and internationally starting with their debut EP ‘Reasons’. The current release of single ‘Canary’ builds on from their quadruple roll out of singles over the past year, and fills out the body of their latest EP ‘Not Here’.

‘Not Here’ launched in with the pillowy-pop power of ‘Reducer’ released in August of 2019. The single is currently tracking to reach a 40K streaming milestone with features on Spotify New Music in Germany and Switzerland and Spotify Fresh Finds. It has been on rotation on Triple J Unearthed and made appearances on the J’s ‘Home and Hosed’, ‘Roots and All’, and ‘Something More’ whilst also gaining spins on 3RRR, PBS, SYN, 4ZZZ and JOY.

The end of 2019 saw the release of ‘Reducer’ accompanied by the dark and brooding ‘Olympia’, followed by the delicate ‘Infancy’ released during lockdown in May 2020. Howlite then dropped their latest single from ‘Not Here’ on Friday10 July, the deep boiling hymn ‘Stranger’. They supported the single with the haunting black and white music video on Tuesday 9 August, to praising audiences.

Moving into the EP release, their final single instalment ‘Canary’ further builds on the groups ethereal, indie foundations. With pulsing heartbeats, swirling soars of harmonies and frontwoman Alison Thom’s gloriously powerful vocal lines, ‘Canary’ encompasses the textured and incredibly captivating Howlite sound.

‘Canary’ was released on Friday 9 October 2020, followed by the ‘Not Here’ EP released on Friday 16 October 2020.
