Mike Hyder - The New Wave of Classic Rock - releases his new album Wood & Steel
‘Wood & Steel’ is the brand new solo album from the voice, guitarist and songwriter of the British rock band, THE TREAT.
It’s the follow up to Mike Hyder’s critically well received ‘Craftsman’ album which PROG magazine described as: “A beautifully recorded and lovingly assembled album that unfolds and develops into a work with rock, folk and prog textures”
Mike Hyder, solo and with THE TREAT, is one of a New Wave of Classic Rock artists. His broad songwriting style has enabled him to appeal not only to fans of New Classic Rock, but also to Progressive Rock, Psychedelic Rock and Folk Rock fans.
Inspired by numerous events which he experienced over a three year period, Mike began writing the songs for ‘Wood & Steel’ at the start of 2018. By April of the year, recording began in earnest, with final touches added in October, making it one of the fastest albums Mike Hyder has made.
‘Wood & Steel’ contains 10 original songs, written, arranged, played and produced to the high standards that fans of THE TREAT and Mike Hyder’s previous solo work have come to expect.
Mike Hyder’s music, both solo and with THE TREAT has received support in a wide range of music publications, including Classic Rock, PROG, R2, Classic Rock Society, and numerous online webzines.
Mike Hyder has performed all over the UK, in numerous well-known venues, including The Borderline, Troubadour, Half Moon and Underworld (all in London), Moles (in Bath), and the Robin 2 (in Wolverhampton), where he recently completed something of a residency, playing the venue 5 times in 2018. He’s also played festivals in the UK (Cambridge Rock Festival) and on the continent.
He’s opened shows for a broad range of established artists, such as Caravan, The Quireboys, The Temperance Movement, Man, Corky Laing (Mountain), The Grandmothers of Invention, The Young Knives and Ken Hensley (Uriah Heep).
