Art-Rock/Modern-Shoegaze trio, Cat Ryan, continue to go from strength to strength with the release of new music. Having already established themselves as one of the most exciting bands to emerge from the music scene of Newcastle upon Tyne, the trio have already gained industry support in the short time they’ve been active. Having just been signed to Pillar Artists (management/label), Cat Ryan are in a position to gain significant traction as they develop alongside Art-Rock contemporaries Youth Sector and Tranqua Lite.
“Mannerism is a self-reflexive song based on the frustration of trying to read people” Mary-Anne, frontwoman, singer/lyricist and multi-instrumentalist explains, “sometimes to the extent that it controls your everyday thoughts”.
The self-conscious nature of their songwriting makes Cat Ryan stand out from amongst the indie landscape that has dominated the last decade, as Art-Rock, Post-Punk and Alt-Rock continue to emerge as new musical directions. Being self-aware helps give listeners something to which they can relate; the lyrics are bound to resonate with everyone that has ever been a victim of overthinking.
