New Music: Mantis Empire 'Summertime' Single

Known as the “rock, reggae juggernauts, creating waves of hype around the coast…” Mantis Empire is your good time band. With their undeniable ability to break ice and build vibes, they’re releasing their ode Summertime after a whirlwind six months.

In June 2018 the Sunshine Coast based group released their debut album Spread the Word, capturing Triple J host Nkechi Anele’s attention who featured album track Tell Me The Truth on the Roots n All show. With this wind in their sails the band entered and won Passport to Airlie. Mantis Empire proceeded play their way through multiple live sets, which in no time had developed in them a tightness and an easy frivolity that when they performed at Airlie Beach Festival of Music punters were wowed with their high-spirited sets.

During their high-impact six months, Summertime was written for a competition a local radio station was holding, but the guys decided against submitting the song. In hindsight not using the song in the competition was a blessing in disguise, allowing the band to give their little beauty time to blossom. Recorded at Glasshouse Studios, and produced by Angus Woodhead, Summertime is a buttery smooth tune carefully put together using several classic techniques to achieve a modern sound. Simplicity was the key.

Mantis Empire have vibes on lock as they know from experience what it takes to build a vibe and have the energy remain. Summertime is as classic as you can imagine, a full wink and smile at the sun, shameless and fun.
