North Wales’ premier Liverpool-based melanchodelia purveyors Gintis return with their single Four Movements (Parts 1, 2, 3 and 4) on 7th June to be released on The Popty Ping Recording Company. Complete with B-sides We Had Plans and You’re The One I’m Keen On, the tracks were all recorded with Bill Ryder-Jones at his Wirral studio.

The tracks follow the double A-side Dennis / Oh My Little Malcontent, also released on The Popty Ping Recording Company and produced by Ryder-Jones. Garnering praise and radio play from Steve Lamacq and Gideon Coe on BBC Radio 6 Music, Huw Stephens on Radio 1, as well as Adam Walton, Bethan Elfyn and Janice Long on BBC Radio Wales, the band’s triumphant return buoyed them to return to their adopted West Kirby home to lay down more tunes with the Domino Records artist.

Since the last release Gintis have grown in number adding trumpet to their California-via-Abergele sound. The now seven-piece are supporting the release with a spate of live shows around the North West and have an album slated in for Autumn 2019.

The trio of tunes are imbued with songwriters’ Carl Roberts and Joseph Booker’s trademark whimsical melancholy and mine a rich vein of fantastical imagery and unique turn of phrase. Carl Roberts said of the tracks: “It’s me channeling a sea captain who retired to work as a security guard, thinking back on a night shift with only his memories and keyboard. Either that or a doomed fantasy of Brian Wilson growing up in Rhyl.”
