'NONE OF THAT' - THE NEW SINGLE FROM JEYHAN
Defiant, compelling and fresh, NONE OF THAT delivers a unique blend of Turkish influences, Latin rhythms and clean pop vocals. A siren-call for self-empowerment, JEYHAN’s latest single promises to lure you to the dancefloor from the very first bar.
Discussing the causes, JEYHAN explains:
“As a musician, I acknowledge the fact that I would not be making music if it weren’t for the brilliant black musicians that paved the way for me and provided the foundation for the music industry to be built upon. Black artists have provided the blueprint for popular music & have influenced major white artists that disproportionately & unjustly run the industry today. Their words & stories were/are stolen & repurposed as the white man's creation. Enough is enough. I will continue to find ways to highlight issues in our country & world and to do my part every day. If “None of That” can make even just one person smile, dance, and/or feel empowered to love themself and live their life on their own terms, then I have done my job. #BlackLivesMatter”
With an EP underway, his unique sound has already drawn attention from hit producer Oak Felder (Lizzo, Rhianna, Demi Lovato). Effortlessly fusing the contemporary with the traditional, this new track delves into JEYHAN’s struggles with OCD, confronting what it means to live life on his own terms.
ABOUT JEYHAN: A first-generation Turkish American, JEYHAN’s musical influences span everything from traditional Turkish Folk music through to contemporary R&B. Growing up, his family’s shared passion was music, with frenetic dance parties and album listening sessions the order of the day. Nights spent learning the moves from the latest Destiny’s Child video or singing along to Turkish singer Tarkan proved formative, and today his songwriting draws inspiration from a broad spectrum of artists, from Stevie Wonder to Sam Smith.
