Oceans Over Alderaan - Falters

Oceans Over Alderaan are an atmospheric rock band from Blackpool UK who combine shoegaze and post-rock elements to make a wholly fresh sound. Made from former members of Goonies Never Say Die, Escape Artist, and Dinosaurs Are Shit Dragons. Formed in Summer 2017 with singer Alice Deacon joining in February 2018

Starting off as an instrumental band in Summer 2017 but gradually evolving to include vocals. The first gig they ever played was in October 2017 at Preston Guild Hall supporting The Big Moon and Porter & May, a pretty big gig for a first performance, they have since gone on to play with bands such as Jekyll, Soeur, Sonars, Pipapo and more.

Since the release of debut single ‘SEVENFOUR’ in January the band have been featured on a number of music blogs as well as receiving airplay from DKFM, Radio X, BBC Introducing, Primal Radio, Dandelion Radio, Fylde Coast Radio, ARFM, Manchester Music Scene, Progwave Radio, Lost In The Manor, Merryn Music Feed & Indie XL.

FALTERS is the bands second single, recorded with Tom Peters of Alpha Male Tea Party and released on the bands own label ‘The Recording Industry Is Dead, Records’ who also release music by the band members other projects as well as music made by their friends.

The song and video are about dealing with male mental health, depression and suicidal impulses. Lyrically it speaks about watching someone tear themselves apart from an outsiders point of view with the video depecting mania and isolation in a delibratley vague way in order to let the viewer project thier own interpretation and emotions onto the story. The masks represent the faces we all use to hide ourselves from the rest of the world at times we feel we cannot cope.

The video is joint effort made by Barry Parkinson and Alice Deacon with band friend (and label mate) ‘The Wisdom Of Oz’, who plays the main character in the video, with band members Joe Wylie and Steve Trenell helping out with the performance sections.
