Padraig Jack's UK dates
Minnie is the brand new single from Padraig Jack.
Born and raised on the largest Aran island, the music of bilingual artist Padraig Jack is influenced by his surroundings as much as it is by James Taylor, Van Morrison, Paul Brady and The Eagles. It’s reflected in his new single and you can watch the video below.
Padraig also supports Sharon Shannon on her UK dates this autumn :
10/09/2019 Maidenhead, Norden Farm 11/09/2019 Birmingham, Hare and Hounds 12/09/2019 Durham, Gala Theatre 15/09/2019 Bury, Metropolitan 16/09/2019 Norwich, Arts Centre
While he has had plenty airplay on RTE Radio 1, iRadio, Raidió na Life and is practically part of the playlist on RTE Raidio na Gaeltachta, Padraig’s live shows are developing his reputation as a singer and songwriter of substance in both English and Irish. He has thus far opened for The Saw Doctors, Donal Lunny, Mick Flannery, The 4 of Us, John Spillane and has appeared at the Westport Bluegrass Festival, SOMA, Shorelines, Skibbereen Arts Festival and Electric Picnic.
With 4 Gradaim NÓS Award nominations in early 2018 (including both Song and Artist of the year) Padraig won second prize at the Pan Celtic National Song contest in 2018 and also had a song feature in an RTE 1 television documentary. Padraig has just finished recording his debut album with producer John Reynolds (Sinead O’Connor, Damien Dempsey, Indigo Girls, Natasha Atlas) with plans to release in 2019.
Minnie is the first single from the new album, which Padraig describes as love story about a woman who falls for a younger man while both are at different stages in their lives. This whirlwind love provides the awakening she needs to do something about her unhappy marriage to an apathetic husband and to realize that there might be love and happiness waiting for her elsewhere in life after all. The younger man ends up getting scared off by all the real world issues this brings up but at this point she is free and ends up finding happiness in someone else.
