Somebody’s Child shares new single “We Could Start A War”
“We Could Start a War”’ is the second single from the Irish newcomers debut EP 20-something. It follows the success of first single “Hold Me Like You Wanna”, which has been featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday, plus editorial playlists The Indie List, alt-pop and more, steamrolling past 50,000 streams in just 2 weeks.
The single has also been supported by BBC Radio 1 (Jack Saunder’s Next Wave Artist), Radio X, RTE Radio 1 (Recommends), RTE 2FM, Today FM and has been added to the A-list on Amazing Radio, amongst other stations.
Equally as powerful, ‘We Could Start A War’ turns in a different direction and mood, channeling the anger in the world at the moment with the powers that be.
Speaking of the track, lead singer and band leader Cian said: “This track was written before life changed for everyone, and has developed a much deeper meaning over the last couple of months”.
Coming from very different musical backgrounds, the group’s chemistry and sound is developing at alarming rates, and the new EP is a huge testament to that.
“20-something is the first real taste of who I want to be as an artist and as a songwriter. It’s inspired by music I actually listen to on a regular basis. Everything before this has just been to test the waters, but for the first time since this started it feels like this is what I’m really about.”
Keen on not shying away from real world problems, Cian’s lyrics comment on personal and political issues. In opening himself up, he hopes 20-something connects with the listener on a much deeper level than before, especially given the situation of the world at the moment.
The debut EP ‘20-Something’ from Somebody’s Child was released on the 7th August.
