Unruly Girls - "She Grew Up In A Shotgun Row"
"She Grew Up in a Shotgun Row" is the new single from Unruly Girls, taken from their new album "Epidemic", to be released on April 21st, 2020 via Dirty Beach. "The single is an aural assault – a pleasant and pulse-quickening one. It’s a collision of electronica and fuzz, feedback, reverb and more attitude than a gathering of top models." Backseat Mafia
"She Grew up in a Shotgun Row" isdedicated to Kim Gordon, or better inspired by her, to tell the surreal story of a girl grown up in nasty and dirty suburbs, full of love and violence. The track is100% adrenaline, withvocals from Ronit Bergman (Undone, Plastic Venus), layers of garage fuzzy guitars, massive synths, menacing feedbacks and a groovy, distorted, danceable drumming.
A lo-fi, dirty, noisy sound, that conveys a sense of delirium and decaying obsession.
The retrovisuals contain original footage shot by Plastic Venusand friends, during the unforgettableunderground music scene of the 1990s through the fascinating lens of theIsraeli punk hardcoreband, that “with their straining-nerve music made for generations to die by, built their faith, their story, their lives over the years.”
Epidemic is the brand new album for Unruly Girls, to be released on April 21st, 2020 on newborn Dirty Beach Recs.
The album has been mixed and mastered by Phil Liar at Monolith Recording Studio in Vitulano (Benevento, Italy).
Compared to their first album "Cruel Tales" (2017), the sound is darker, charged with emotions and psycological nuances
Powderous bass lines, acid synths and spacey drumming are the perfect scenery for their garage r'n'r mayhem.
The title, "Epidemic", was chosen at early stages, inspired by the way music can spread beauty into the world, sweetly connecting people and nurturing new movements and ideas.
In a continuous flow, the tracks float between punk electronic, noisy rock vibes and funk rhythmics, while lyrics might seems labyrinths free to wander, in search of uncatchable meanings.
For fans of: Sonic Youth, Primal Scream, The Cramps, Stereolab.
Unruly Girls is a duo project from Benevento: Luigi Limongelli and Humbert Alison work close together in composition, producing and recording, while Humbert is the one bringing it to the crowds as a one man show.
Their debut album "Cruel Tales" (July 2017), was totally home produced, and has been recognised as a stunning and more than promising debut.
The band's name was inspired by The Smiths' "Barbarism Begins at Home" , with Morrissey singing: "Unruly boys who will not grow up must be taken in hand, Unruly Girls who will not settle down they must be taken in hand". Of course irony and ambivalence are basic ingredients here.
With more than 100 concerts in Italy and Europe, and a growing interest from audience and press, Unruly Girls are ready to share their allucinatory and raw vision with a brand new world.
