Zolton 'When the Lights Come Up on New York City' Single

Zolton is the alias for Sydney-based musician, producer, and songwriter, Zolton Zavos. From his early years playing in Sydney bands, Lucid and Jetstream, through to his time in New York launching the world-renowned music and culture website, Lost At E Minor, Zolton has returned to the musical spotlight with his neon-imbued single, When The Lights Come Up On New York City.

At the end of 2016, Zolton moved back to Sydney re-invigorated and got back into creating music again. He sought out talented young producer, Taka Perry, via a tip from a friend, Jake Stone (ex-Bluejuice), and began work on a new musical project that incorporated big 80s-styled synths, beats, and melodic hooks.

Zolton’s debut single, the anthemic When The Lights Come Up On New York City, looks back with reverence on his years living in America. “I wrote it about my first year living in New York when I met my now wife and we explored the city together fascinated by the whole energy of the place. I ended up living in New York for eight years, and they were the best years of my life.”

The song was written by Zolton Zavos, pre-produced by Michael Beinhorn (Soundgarden), produced by Taka Perry, mixed by Tony Hoffer (M83, Beck) and mastered by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound in New York - an all-star team that combined to create a sound just as bright as the city from which the song took inspiration.

When The Lights Come Up On New York City is a soft focus reverie as Zolton’s richly affectionate presence set amongst the hustling drums and soaring guitar lead give you a real feel for the magnitude of New York. If you’ve been there, you’ll know it, if you haven’t, Zolton’s single will take you. Either way, you’ll love the experience of When The Lights Come Up On New York City.
